Out of District Hesitancy

I'd say I'm like a lot of other people in the sense of feeling a little guilty when involving myself in political races in districts that aren't my own. If you think about the money that flows in to campaigns from all over the country, the idea that volunteers or small time donors have anything to be defensive about is preposterous. However, I'd be willing to wager that a lot of people don't get involved because of this concern of not wanting to be an interloper. Frankly, if you're in a safe district (for the good or the bad) then it's really your responsibility to "get in the game" where you can find it.

I just never really hear people talk about it that way. In fact, with the back and forth on DKos concerning the Winograd/Harman race, there was a fair amount of "well, are you even in the district?" kind of comments being made from both sides. Frankly, it doesn't matter if somebody is outside the district - their opinion and interest in the race is valid. Particularly if the candidates are receiving contributions from out of district.
